Ukraine
Ukraine is the second largest country in Eastern Europe. It is bordered by the Russian Federation to the east; Belarus to the north; Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west; Romania and Moldova to the southwest; and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to the south.
Ukraine has a population of 47,000,000 people. Major cities are Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Charkow, Donetsk and Lvov. Ukraine main export is wheat, coal, steel, airplanes and trucks.
Ukraine has 182 banks, 317 asset management companies with 898 funds. Although the domestic financial market is quite developed, the majority of investment opportunities are domestic equities, bonds and real estate. Although less known then Russia, Ukraine has very wealthy and powerful elite, which looks into diversification of their assets. We would estimate that there are 30,000 to 50,000 dollar-millionaires in Ukraine, 80% of them in Moscow, followed by Dnepropetrovsk, Charkow and other cities. The average minimum level of assets to be invested we would estimate at $200,000-$500000 though some HNWIs have $1000000-$3000000 Million to invest.
Ukrainians feel themselves as Europeans and are eager to invest into western financial products, which are underrepresented in the country.
